Équipe belge FOSS4G
FOSS4G Belgium is the yearly Belgium event about Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial.
It is organised by the Belgium Chapter of the Open Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo.be), which
is one of the more than 50 local chapters of the Open Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) worldwide.
As of today, almost every week there is a FOSS4G conference, somewhere on this planet. But only one is located in Brussels, Belgium.
The conference is for and by everybody who is interested in an open and inclusive world. We promote free and open source software, but also open standards, open data, open government, ...
We attract for the Belgium conference between 300 and 400 visitors. Thanks to our sponsors we can keep the entrance fee for free.
Volunteers are presenting and sharing their best practises and experiences. Anybody is encouraged to submit a paper to present.
And because the topic is all about Geo, MAPS are an important topic and we have every year a wall with the most beautiful maps. You can provide your best work by applying for the call for maps.
If we have to describe a FOSS4G conference in one sentence, we should describe the fantastic atmosphere and energy around the event.
This will be the third edition of the Conference in Belgium.
OSGeo
La fondation Open Source Geospatial (OSGeo), est une organisation sans but lucratif dont la mission est d'aider et de promouvoir le développement collaboratif des données et des technologies ouvertes en géomatique. La fondation fournit une aide financière, organisationnelle et légale à l'immense communauté open-source de ce domaine. En outre, elle sert d'entité légale indépendante à laquelle les membres de la communauté peuvent contribuer (développements informatiques, dons, autres ressources) tout en ayant l'assurance que leurs contributions resteront au bénéfice de tous. Aussi, l'OSGeo sert d'assistance et de défense pour la communauté géospatiale libre, et fournit un forum commun et une infrastructure partagée pour améliorer la collaboration entre ses différents projets.
Les projets de la fondation sont tous librement disponibles et utilisables sous une licence open source certifiée par l'OSI.
